Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 5–10 enterprise projects with varying complexity and urgency.
- Lead technical discovery with merchants and partners to understand goals, requirements, integrations, constraints, and success criteria.
- Advise on Shopify architecture, complex functionality, business-system integrations, solution design, tradeoffs, risks, and dependencies.
- Educate merchants on Shopify capabilities and guide their technical, development, and operational teams during solution delivery.
- Identify when Professional Services, paid consultation, partner involvement, or Product/Engineering alignment is needed.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Production Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Risk & Legal, and Product teams.
- Prioritize work across multiple active enterprise engagements and focus on clear technical outcomes and practical execution.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of Shopify’s admin, settings, customization model, first-party apps, platform primitives, metaobjects, Shopify Functions, checkout extensibility, and API integrations.
- Functional proficiency in at least one programming language sufficient to evaluate integration approaches, review implementation patterns, and communicate with development teams.
- Experience advising on ecommerce architecture, including storefronts, product and collection modeling, checkout flows, customer accounts, payments, subscriptions, fulfillment, and operational workflows.
- Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL queries, mutations, and objects.
- Ability to reason through complex ecosystems involving ERPs, OMS, WMS, PSPs, subscription platforms, loyalty systems, tax providers, middleware, and custom applications.
- Experience with ecommerce website development, including product and collection pages, checkout flows, navigation menus, and ecommerce funnel optimization.
- Strong technical aptitude and a record of driving complex work to clear outcomes.
- Ability to simplify technical complexity, operate effectively amid ambiguity, and translate unclear merchant needs into actionable solution paths.
- Superior verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and continuously deepen Shopify and ecommerce expertise.
