Base Salary
$250k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own multi-quarter, cross-organizational platform initiatives including service mesh adoption, multi-region resilience, and foundational platform programs.
- Define architectural patterns, golden paths, platform primitives, Istio mTLS and traffic policies, AI-agent deployment paths, and MCP-backed service APIs.
- Debug production incidents, harden migration tooling, resolve cross-team architectural conflicts, and remain hands-on in critical code and infrastructure paths.
- Coordinate engineering teams across business units, manage rollout dependencies, and resolve resourcing, sequencing, and environment-drift blockers.
- Own the end-to-end strategy for testing infrastructure across iteration environments, pre-production gates, and multi-service validation.
- Mentor Staff and Senior engineers on system design, migration strategy, and cross-team technical initiatives.
- Lead large-scale infrastructure consolidations, CI/CD platform changes, artifact registry modernization, and dependency upgrades.
- Define platform success metrics covering adoption, incidents, cost, and developer sentiment.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, including ownership of initiatives spanning multiple teams or business units.
- Production-proven expertise with Kubernetes/EKS, service mesh technologies including Istio, and Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform at meaningful scale.
- Experience leading complex, multi-quarter technical programs from architecture through execution, including cost and risk analysis and phased proposals.
- Experience debugging production incidents in distributed, multi-hop systems, including proxy or sidecar failures, cross-service authentication issues, and configuration drift.
- Proficiency in at least one of Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and align engineering organizations that do not report to the role.
- Experience mentoring Staff-level engineers and shaping system design practices across a broader engineering organization.
- Preferred: experience with agentic tooling, MCP-backed APIs, AI-agent production deployment paths, infrastructure consolidation, cloud cost optimization, vendor consolidation, multi-region or high-availability architecture, RPO/RTO planning, per-journey SLOs, RFCs, and leadership-facing technical proposals.
