Base Salary
$154k - $246k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide cross-domain system and product-level technical leadership for SSD firmware architecture.
- Drive architectural requirements, feature assessments, and high-level scoping for customer and product requests.
- Lead, develop, review, and document product source code in C/C++.
- Analyze, architect, and develop firmware according to internal and external specifications.
- Develop low-level firmware, operating systems, system architectures, and device architectures with hardware and ASIC teams.
- Perform algorithm modeling, benchmarking, unit testing, system testing, failure analysis, and product debugging.
- Translate product requirements into development and validation plans with project stakeholders.
- Coordinate priorities and activities across engineering stakeholders to meet milestones.
- Drive firmware architecture decisions, technology roadmaps, coding standards, development processes, and technical direction across teams.
- Engage strategic customers to translate product requirements into architectural solutions.
- Mentor senior engineers and serve as a technical authority across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software or firmware development experience in embedded systems using C/C++, including 8+ years in SSD firmware architecture or NAND flash storage systems.
- Demonstrated technical leadership across ASIC, hardware, firmware, validation, product engineering, and manufacturing teams.
- Expertise in SSD firmware technologies including FTL, QoS, wear leveling, garbage collection, bad block management, ECC/error recovery, power-loss protection, and NAND flash management.
- Experience making architecture decisions involving performance, reliability, power, cost, and scalability.
- Expertise with enterprise storage interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, NVMe, and NVMe-MI.
- Experience with SSD security technologies such as TCG Opal, IEEE 1667, ESSC, AES, Secure Boot, and firmware authentication.
- Experience with controller ASIC and hardware architecture teams and next-generation product capabilities.
- Experience with QLC/PLC NAND, Zoned Namespaces, Computational Storage, CXL, and NVMe over Fabrics.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, CI/CD, automated validation, and embedded firmware release management.
- Experience engaging strategic customers, mentoring senior engineers, and providing technical direction across multiple teams.
- Strong communication, presentation, influencing, leadership, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
