Responsibilities
- Design and build interactive, performant frontends using JavaScript frameworks such as React, Next.js, Shopify Hydrogen, and Remix.
- Develop scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js, Python, AWS, and event-driven architectures.
- Build and extend Shopify custom apps, Functions, checkout customizations, and Admin/Storefront API integrations.
- Own Shopify pricing, inventory, Markets, Catalogs, multi-currency, multi-region availability, and inventory-level logic.
- Integrate third-party APIs and platforms including Stripe, ERP/PIM systems, search engines, and recommendation engines.
- Own features end-to-end from technical design and architecture through testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Improve CI/CD deployment pipelines and maintain unit, functional, and end-to-end tests.
- Prototype AI-driven features and integrate AI tools into user-facing products.
- Mentor junior developers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to technical direction, process improvement, automation, rapid experimentation, and cost-efficient scalable solutions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software development experience, ideally spanning frontend and backend work.
- Strong hands-on Shopify experience, including Admin and Storefront GraphQL APIs, metafields, webhooks, and checkout.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills with modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, or Vue.
- Backend experience with Node.js, Python, or similar technologies and solid API architecture skills.
- Understanding of AWS services including Lambda, S3, EventBridge, and SQS, along with event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of deployment pipelines, environments, releases, rollbacks, and unit, functional, and end-to-end testing.
- Ability to design cost-efficient, scalable solutions and connect implementation decisions to long-term technical goals.
- Strong communication, initiative, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Experience integrating AI tools such as OpenAI, Google, or Meta into user-facing products.
- Preferred experience includes Shopify Hydrogen, Oxygen, custom Shopify apps, bundle/configurable products, B2B commerce, Shopify POS, WebAR, Three.js, A-Frame, vector databases, AI embeddings, open-source contributions, technical writing, generative AI, LLMs, or real-time computer vision.
