Responsibilities
- Define and drive the architecture for large-scale C2 software that ingests, fuses, and acts on diverse sensor data in real time.
- Lead the design and implementation of production-scale real-time algorithms in Rust and/or C++.
- Partner with research scientists to transition tracking, estimation, sensor-effector pairing, and asset-scheduling algorithms into deployed tactical code.
- Make architectural trade-offs across performance, modularity, testability, and maintainability for mission-critical edge systems.
- Mentor senior engineers and establish coding standards, review processes, and CI/CD practices.
- Engage directly with DoD agencies and military customers to deliver mission-critical outcomes.
- Troubleshoot issues involving software, mathematical assumptions, sensor behavior, and networking.
- Contribute across prototyping, modeling and simulation, field testing, and deployment.
- Help shape hiring and technical growth across the C2 organization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, mathematics, engineering, statistics, or a related field.
- Expert proficiency in modern C++ and/or Rust, including asynchronous and multithreaded programming such as Tokio for Rust.
- Experience architecting large-scale, production-grade codebases in real-time or high-performance environments.
- Deep experience developing performant real-time software with numerics-heavy algorithms.
- Strong foundation in probability theory, linear algebra, optimization, differential equations, and statistics.
- Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, Git version control, and microservices.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in a technical field, especially a combined software and mathematics background.
- Preferred: expertise in target tracking, state estimation, Kalman filters, sensor fusion, or signal processing.
- Preferred: prior DoD program experience with organizations such as the Army, Air Force, MDA, SCO, or Navy.
- Preferred: GPU or CUDA kernel development experience.
