Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate software automating Lambda’s network lifecycle from data center build-out and device provisioning through day-2 operations.
- Build provisioning and zero-touch deployment systems that move network devices from rack installation to production readiness with minimal manual work.
- Develop pipelines for generating, validating, and deploying network configuration as code with automated testing, staged rollouts, and safe rollback.
- Build capacity-planning tools using inventory, topology, and utilization data to forecast port, bandwidth, optics, and IP address needs.
- Integrate automation with source-of-truth, inventory, and IPAM systems to keep intended and live network state synchronized.
- Create APIs, services, and CLIs for internal teams to request, change, and audit network resources.
- Instrument owned systems with metrics, logging, and alerting and participate in the on-call rotation.
- Partner with Network Engineering, Data Center Operations, and platform teams to turn manual runbooks into self-service automation.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Production-quality coding experience with deep expertise in multiple languages.
- Experience building automation or infrastructure tooling used by other engineers, such as provisioning systems, deployment pipelines, workflow engines, or internal APIs.
- Strong distributed-systems knowledge, including API design, data modeling, idempotency, and partial-failure handling.
- Experience with code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows.
- Comfort with the Linux command line and understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and IP routing.
- Experience leading technical projects from design documentation through production rollout and mentoring other engineers.
- Preferred experience with data center networking, BGP, EVPN/VXLAN, ECMP, Arista, Juniper, Cisco, NVIDIA Cumulus/SONiC, NETCONF/gNMI, Jinja, Ansible, Nornir, Netmiko, NAPALM, Terraform, source-of-truth/DCIM/IPAM systems, capacity planning, time-series telemetry, InfiniBand, RoCEv2, Kubernetes, and data center power, space, and cooling constraints.
Benefits
- The role requires working from the Bellevue or San Francisco office four days per week, with Tuesday designated as the work-from-home day.
