Base Salary
$204k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the team’s technical strategy over a year-long horizon and connect it to critical business-impacting projects
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that multiply team effectiveness
- Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call support
- Establish code review and design standards and promote quality and ownership through writing and technical talks
- Mentor and develop engineers through feedback, guidance, and leading by example
- Consolidate the internal platform behind post-checkout APIs, establish domain boundaries, migrate merchants, and enable future product capabilities
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale
- Experience developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes
- Strong understanding of API boundaries, reliability, consistency, idempotency, and failure modes
- Experience in payments, commerce, ledger, or another financially sensitive domain is ideal
- Experience delivering major features, system components, or deprecations through technical and execution planning
- Ability to write high-quality, maintainable code and work from language-level details through large-system architecture
- Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and feedback skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
