Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction of a multi-cloud foundation across AWS and GCP.
- Design and operate organization-scale Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Develop cloud networking, governance, security, compliance, and policy frameworks.
- Drive FinOps instrumentation, cloud economics, and cost visibility.
- Establish incident response protocols and improve cloud infrastructure reliability and availability.
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance on cloud design decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, scientific, and hyperscaler stakeholders to translate complex needs into practical solutions.
- Mentor engineering talent and share cloud architecture knowledge and best practices across teams.
- Set standards for quality, documentation, and rigorous use of AI-assisted engineering.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience with multi-cloud architecture using AWS and GCP.
- Demonstrable experience with organization-scale Terraform and infrastructure as code.
- Demonstrable experience in cloud networking, governance, cloud security standards, compliance frameworks, and governance policy development.
- Demonstrable experience with FinOps instrumentation and cloud economics.
- Demonstrable experience with AI-assisted engineering and rigorous technical review.
- Demonstrable experience providing technical leadership without line authority and working with a platform-as-product mindset.
- Demonstrable experience managing stakeholders with hyperscalers.
- Demonstrable experience with incident response protocols and reliability engineering.
- Proven ability to conduct architecture reviews and guide cloud design decisions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- AWS or GCP certification required.
- Experience in agriculture, life sciences, scientific computing, regulated enterprise environments, internal platforms, distributed engineering organizations, cost optimization, cloud economics, or mentoring is a bonus.
