Responsibilities

Lead the technical direction of a multi-cloud foundation across AWS and GCP.
Design and operate organization-scale Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Develop cloud networking, governance, security, compliance, and policy frameworks.
Drive FinOps instrumentation, cloud economics, and cost visibility.
Establish incident response protocols and improve cloud infrastructure reliability and availability.
Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance on cloud design decisions.
Collaborate with engineering, product, scientific, and hyperscaler stakeholders to translate complex needs into practical solutions.
Mentor engineering talent and share cloud architecture knowledge and best practices across teams.
Set standards for quality, documentation, and rigorous use of AI-assisted engineering.

Demonstrable experience with multi-cloud architecture using AWS and GCP.
Demonstrable experience with organization-scale Terraform and infrastructure as code.
Demonstrable experience in cloud networking, governance, cloud security standards, compliance frameworks, and governance policy development.
Demonstrable experience with FinOps instrumentation and cloud economics.
Demonstrable experience with AI-assisted engineering and rigorous technical review.
Demonstrable experience providing technical leadership without line authority and working with a platform-as-product mindset.
Demonstrable experience managing stakeholders with hyperscalers.
Demonstrable experience with incident response protocols and reliability engineering.
Proven ability to conduct architecture reviews and guide cloud design decisions.
Strong communication skills and ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Fluent written and spoken English.
AWS or GCP certification required.
Experience in agriculture, life sciences, scientific computing, regulated enterprise environments, internal platforms, distributed engineering organizations, cost optimization, cloud economics, or mentoring is a bonus.
