Base Salary
$600k - $1066k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own AIMS’s end-to-end developer experience, including local and remote development environments, build and test infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and research-to-production tooling.
- For Tech Lead Manager candidates, lead and grow a small developer productivity engineering team through direction-setting, hiring, coaching, and career support while remaining hands-on.
- Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed build and CI systems that maintain fast build, test, and iteration times.
- Build and maintain internal developer platforms and self-service tooling that reduce infrastructure work for individual teams.
- Partner with ML researchers and engineers to identify workflow friction, prioritize productivity investments, and drive adoption through documentation and migration support.
- Instrument developer workflows and use metrics such as build times, iteration speed, and time-to-first-experiment to guide investment.
- Set technical standards through design reviews and architectural guidance, and drive cross-team technical programs.
- Evaluate and productionize GenAI-powered developer tooling, including intelligent build/test selection, automated code review, and triage automation, with appropriate guardrails.
Requirements
- Significant experience building and operating developer productivity infrastructure, build systems, CI/CD, developer environments, or internal platforms at scale.
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers as a manager or tech lead while remaining technically hands-on.
- Deep proficiency in Python and working proficiency in at least one JVM language such as Scala or Java.
- Hands-on experience with distributed build systems such as Bazel, Buck, or Pants and distributed data or compute frameworks such as Spark or Beam.
- Working understanding and practical experience using GenAI-powered developer tools, including coding assistants, automated code review, or agentic coding workflows.
- Experience with parallel and distributed computing and operating systems at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose developer friction through direct observation and ship tooling that measurably improves workflows.
- Ability to drive cross-team technical programs, build trust with ML researchers, and earn adoption without formal authority.
- Comfort working across low-level systems such as build graphs, compilers, and runtime performance and higher-level platform and API design.
- Preferred qualifications include ML developer tooling, GenAI developer-tool product development, open-source infrastructure contributions, compiler or language tooling, static analysis, dependency optimization, and high-performance or large-scale batch computing experience.

- Annual salary range of $600,000.00–$1,066,000.00, with compensation allocated between salary and stock options according to the employee’s choice.
