Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure using Terraform or equivalent infrastructure as code.
- Manage the Kubernetes container platform, including cluster architecture, workload scheduling, autoscaling, configuration, and governance.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines covering build, testing, security scanning, and deployment stages.
- Develop internal platform tooling, self-service capabilities, reusable pipeline patterns, and developer experience improvements.
- Own observability across logging, tracing, metrics, alerting, SLOs, SLAs, and error budgets.
- Lead incident response, post-incident reviews, reliability improvements, chaos engineering, load testing, and capacity planning.
- Embed security, secrets management, access controls, compliance, and cost optimisation into infrastructure and deployment practices.
- Set DevOps and platform engineering standards, influence architecture, mentor engineers, and contribute to the platform roadmap.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a DevOps, Platform, or Site Reliability Engineer in a software product company focused on cloud-native infrastructure and developer tooling.
- Proven experience leading complex DevOps or platform engineering initiatives.
- Strong proficiency with a major cloud platform, preferably AWS, and deep hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or an equivalent.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.
- Strong Kubernetes experience covering cluster management, Helm, workload configuration, security, and operational practices.
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting and familiarity with YAML-based configuration.
- Experience building and operating observability stacks involving logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, secrets management, and security practices for SaaS environments.
- Experience with version-controlled codebases, code reviews, technical standards, architectural influence, and infrastructure-as-software practices.
- Experience mentoring or supporting the technical development of other engineers.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, architecture, security, product, IT, and senior stakeholder groups.
- Desirable experience with Backstage or Port, Istio or Linkerd, ArgoCD or Flux, ISO27001, GitOps, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, and multi-tenant SaaS products.
- Knowledge of the construction, engineering, or field service management industry is desirable.
