Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and maintain performant distributed services and highly available APIs using Go, Java, and/or Python.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers across cross-functional teams to align product and engineering goals.
- Write maintainable, observable, well-documented production code and participate in code reviews.
- Operate APIs and services by measuring performance, load testing, creating alerts, dashboards, and runbooks, and responding to incidents.
- Participate in a rapid-response on-call rotation for internal and external services.
- Use AI tooling responsibly throughout the software development lifecycle.
Requirements
- 6+ years of production-environment software development experience, preferably with Python, Java, and/or Go.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Geosciences, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with GCP or AWS, Docker containers, Kubernetes deployments, Git, large codebases, merge-request reviews, and complex CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with diverse data storage systems, including relational databases, document stores, and key-value stores.
- Strong software engineering, problem-solving, analytical, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to learn technologies independently and work through uncertain or ambiguous problem spaces.
- Preferred: familiarity with geospatial concepts and standards, GeoTIFFs, GeoJSON, STAC, remotely sensed products, associated metadata, and Grafana.
