Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end functional test coverage for assigned applications, including UI, service layers, and integration points.
- Perform manual, exploratory, regression, integration, and automated testing using risk- and value-based judgment.
- Define application test strategies and determine the appropriate balance between manual and automated testing.
- Provide evidence-based release-readiness assessments and quality reporting to engineering and product leadership.
- Use AI tooling and automation for requirements analysis, test authoring, coverage review, debugging, defect analysis, and reporting.
- Build and maintain Playwright automation, including architecture, abstractions, fixtures, test data, environments, CI integration, and reporting.
- Contribute to the QA automation framework and establish standards for fast, reliable, readable test suites.
- Triage, reproduce, document, and drive defects to resolution.
- Lead by example through code review, pairing, hands-on guidance, and support for QA automation adoption.
- Partner with software engineers, product managers, and DevOps to shift quality activities earlier in the delivery cycle.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software quality engineering, including strong manual testing and hands-on test automation experience.
- Demonstrated depth with Playwright, including suite architecture, flakiness mitigation, test data strategy, and CI execution at scale.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering or testing tooling in routine workflows.
- Strong knowledge of functional testing, test design techniques, risk-based prioritization, boundary and negative testing, and structured exploratory testing.
- Experience contributing to or building test automation frameworks and explaining architectural decisions.
- Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript, or comparable programming experience with the ability to become productive quickly.
- Experience owning both manual and automated testing for an application in a hybrid QA model.
- Working knowledge of defect and test management tools such as Jira, Xray, or equivalent.
- Experience integrating automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with Claude Code or a comparable AI coding agent.
- Preferred: experience creating AI agent skills and custom agents and using or building Model Context Protocol servers.
- Preferred: API test automation experience across REST or GraphQL, including contract testing.
- Preferred: experience helping manual QA organizations adopt automation, AI tooling, or modern quality practices.
- Preferred: background in a regulated or high-reliability domain.
