Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain low-latency Rust or Java applications and frameworks for algorithmic trading and eTrading platforms.
- Build and enhance event-sourced systems and application utilities for market data replay, back-testing, and simulation.
- Integrate functions, deploy new products, enhance processes, and solve complex business and system problems.
- Analyze application flows, industry standards, and user requirements to define and implement system solutions.
- Perform performance assessment and targeted tuning for systems with response times in the 10 to 100 microsecond range.
- Consult with end users, communicate with senior leaders and external parties, and contribute to system design.
- Mentor junior developers and less experienced senior Java developers.
- Produce clear technical documentation and UML sequence diagrams when needed.
Requirements
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in application development.
- In-depth experience developing algorithmic trading applications, preferably in low-latency environments.
- Detailed experience handling market data and using associated technologies such as KDB time-series databases.
- Strong commercial Java development experience, including modern Java, the JVM, Linux, system calls, and the kernel.
- Knowledge of TCP and other IP-based networking protocols, including hardware-accelerated kernel bypass technologies such as Solarflare OpenOnload.
- Experience with Rust, Java, and low-latency application frameworks; C++ experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, software development, and performance-tuning skills.
- Experience implementing projects and designing elegant, robust, mission-critical systems.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, consensus-building, and mentoring skills.
