Responsibilities
- Design and deliver the next generation of Astronomer's production platform.
- Own how code is tested, built, and deployed in a high-scale PaaS environment.
- Collaborate across the company on production-system design, technical standards, and technology choices.
- Build out the company's Platform and Reliability practice.
- Participate in incident management and improve platform reliability and operational practices.
- Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation for systems and processes.
- Estimate work, coordinate with stakeholders, address risks, and support successful project delivery.
- Participate in a periodic on-call rotation for owned services.
Requirements
- Strong experience designing and implementing non-abstract systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Golang.
- In-depth Kubernetes experience, with CKA certification or equivalent or greater.
- Experience with observability principles and technologies, including SLI/SLO definition and tracking.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in globally distributed teams.
- Passion for reliability, operational excellence, ownership, and accountability.
- Experience with software development practices including code review, testing, CI/CD, version control, automation, and debugging.
- Preferred experience with SaaS/PaaS products across multiple cloud providers.
- Preferred experience with CircleCI, Chronosphere, Prometheus, Splunk, Bazel, Istio, Playwright, Karpenter, and GitHub Actions.
- Preferred experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, and Apache Airflow.
