Responsibilities

  • Own the software architecture for a containerized, SCA-compliant operating environment and define core service and hardware interfaces.
  • Translate mission requirements into architectural milestones, interface designs, trade studies, and implementation plans with government and program stakeholders.
  • Make technical decisions involving IPC, container virtualization, memory footprints, timing services, and latency budgets for disconnected tactical edge platforms.
  • Write, test, refactor, and review mission-critical C/C++ services, middleware, and integration harnesses.
  • Guide software-to-hardware integration across SOSA-aligned chassis, GPPs, SDR transceivers, DSPs, and FPGA-based subsystems.
  • Author and govern Interface Control Documents, architectural design documents, and system interface specifications.
  • Architect the environment to meet DoD cybersecurity frameworks and NSA Type-1 cryptographic and tamper-boundary requirements.
  • Mentor software developers and support troubleshooting, code quality, and technical trade-off discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Eight or more years of progressive embedded software development experience.
  • At least three years in a lead or architect capacity making software architecture decisions, system trade-offs, and multithreaded interface designs.
  • Expertise in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and C for ARM64 and x86_64 processors running embedded Linux.
  • Experience designing, packaging, or running containerized workloads on Linux using technologies such as Docker, Podman, OCI containers, or lightweight Kubernetes/K3s.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded Linux internals, POSIX APIs, multithreading, concurrency, memory management, and high-throughput IPC.
  • Hands-on experience developing interfaces for hardware peripherals and embedded buses including PCIe, Ethernet/IP, Serial UART/RS-422/485, SPI, and I2C.
  • Experience authoring Interface Control Documents and communicating technical trade-offs with customer counterparts.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI and U.S. citizenship.
  • Preferred experience with SDR waveform development or porting using SCA, REDHAWK SDR, or GNU Radio.
  • Preferred experience with ORBs and middleware such as CORBA/omniORB, eRPC, or DDS.
  • Preferred knowledge of tactical waveforms including SINCGARS, WREN/SRW, MUOS, Link 16, or HF/VHF/UHF line-of-sight communications.
  • Preferred knowledge of MOSA initiatives including SOSA, CMOSS, MORA, VICTORY, or OpenVPX.
  • Preferred experience configuring embedded Linux distributions with Yocto Project, Buildroot, or PetaLinux.
  • Preferred familiarity with NSA cryptographic integration, software safety/security certification, cross-domain solutions, FPGA coprocessors, and DSPs.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • 401(k) with company match, life insurance, vacation and sick paid time off, and 11 paid holidays.
