Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain DevSecOps pipelines with CI/CD, continuous monitoring, automated security testing, and integrated SAST, DAST, SCA, and compliance checks.
  • Automate operational tasks, security workflows, incident response playbooks, threat detection routines, permission audits, and cloud security posture monitoring using Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Manage Jenkins, Git, Jira, Artifactory, SonarQube, Terraform, CloudFormation, ECS, EKS, and container vulnerability management.
  • Design and operate secure AWS architectures and network security controls, including AWS WAF, AWS Network Firewall, Security Groups, NACLs, NGFWs, IDS/IPS, VPN, DNS, SFTP, and TCP/IP services.
  • Manage AWS services including EC2, VPC, Lambda, S3, EFS, ECR/ECS, EKS, Route 53, IAM, RDS, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, conduct performance and security assessments, and implement durable remediation.
  • Maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, security procedures, infrastructure-as-code, and compliance controls for frameworks including SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001.
  • Support secure cloud computing systems for NIWC Atlantic’s Expeditionary Enterprise Systems and Services Division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related Engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • At least seven years of IT professional experience, including at least three years specifically in AWS Cloud Security, DevOps, or DevSecOps.
  • Current Security+ certification and an active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS firewalls, next-generation firewalls, IDS/IPS, advanced network security, security tooling, guardrails, and automated remediation.
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go and in Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of AWS core services including EC2, VPC, RDS, Lambda, S3, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
  • Experience integrating network operating systems, application programs, and hardware devices through specification, design, coding, testing, and maintenance.
  • Experience overseeing hybrid software, web, and hardware products from specifications through rollout and maintenance.
  • Preferred experience includes SOAR platforms, Lambda/Step Functions auto-remediation, AWS Security Specialty or AWS DevOps Professional certification, Kubernetes/EKS security, container registries, and compliance automation.
  • Ability to work under deadlines, manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, and maintain attention to detail.
