Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, maintain, and support Mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and independently implement effective solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and application issues across multiple systems.
- Participate in application modernization, re-engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure solutions meet quality, security, scalability, maintainability, and performance standards.
- Collaborate daily with customers, business users, and project teams.
- Follow established development, testing, and change management processes.
- Support project deliverables and production activities, including extended working hours when required.
Requirements
- Typically 5+ years of Mainframe development experience with relevant exposure to COBOL-based insurance applications preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with IBM Mainframe technologies, COBOL, JCL, REXX, and VSAM.
- Experience with Endevor or similar Mainframe change management tools.
- Solid understanding of software design, development, and implementation methodologies.
- Ability to understand technical specifications and independently develop solutions.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills for complex enterprise applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Experience with DXC Series 2 and the US Property & Casualty insurance domain is preferred.
- Exposure to large-scale enterprise application support and development environments is preferred.
