Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components for high-throughput and large-scale data processing.
- Define scalability, availability, durability, and service-level objectives for owned components and systems.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Build telemetry, KPIs, dashboards, alerts, performance tests, fault-injection scenarios, and brownout tests.
- Implement replication and synchronization techniques to maintain data correctness, integrity, and availability.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in operational support rotations, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud infrastructure compliance documentation.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code automation and change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Coordinate moderately complex projects, delegate and prioritize work, mentor junior team members, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to lead development and architecture of scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Experience designing systems for elasticity, high throughput, large-scale retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Experience with reliability mechanisms including redundancy, replication, failover, partition handling, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Ability to create telemetry, monitoring, alerting, performance testing, and complex correctness-validation scenarios.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems and participating in operational support or incident response.
- Knowledge of security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation, cloud compliance, and infrastructure automation.
- Ability to coordinate moderately complex initiatives, provide technical oversight, mentor others, and collaborate across teams.

- Hiring range is $114,600 to $234,600 per annum, with possible bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
