Responsibilities
- Design and develop real-time embedded software for next-generation controller products.
- Participate in all phases of development from product definition through production release.
- Develop BSPs, device drivers, middleware, and application firmware for VxWorks and Embedded Linux.
- Perform hardware board bring-up, firmware integration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Implement and validate industrial communication protocol stacks in embedded firmware and control applications.
- Debug and analyze complex real-time systems using hardware and software debugging tools.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, system test, and product management teams.
- Support team members through pair programming and code reviews.
- Break down technical problems, estimate development tasks, and drive solutions through completion.
- Contribute to automated build and test, version control, continuous integration, and firmware quality processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–15 years of experience in embedded software or firmware development on Intel x86 and ARM-based processors or controllers.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ for high-performance, reliable, and safety-critical embedded software.
- Hands-on experience with BSP, device driver, middleware, and application firmware development on VxWorks and Embedded Linux.
- Experience with board bring-up, firmware integration, performance optimization, boot architectures, startup sequences, firmware upgrades, and system recovery.
- Experience with U-Boot, GRUB, MLO, secure boot, and real-time multithreaded or multiprocess architectures.
- Expertise debugging and analyzing real-time systems using Wind River Workbench, GDB, JTAG debuggers, trace tools, memory analyzers, and RTOS debugging utilities.
- Understanding and implementation experience with EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINE, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, and DNP3.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, network diagnostics, and cybersecurity considerations for industrial control systems.
- Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and JTAG or boundary-scan tools.
- Ability to interpret hardware schematics, processor datasheets, memory maps, FPGA interfaces, and peripheral specifications.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development, continuous integration and deployment, automated build and test frameworks, and Git or SVN.
- Familiarity with industrial automation standards, reliability requirements, and firmware quality processes for mission-critical control systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, written communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with programmable logic controllers, Xilinx Ultrascale SOC firmware development, and Python scripting.
