Responsibilities

  • Extend Helsing’s integrated deep-learning frameworks built on PyTorch.
  • Scale infrastructure and tooling for faster and larger distributed training.
  • Design data strategies for large datasets and efficient storage to keep GPUs utilized.
  • Architect and implement tools and platforms that abstract complex distributed systems and improve training throughput and developer velocity.
  • Contribute to cross-functional engineering teams and the internal engineering culture.

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science or a STEM field, focused on machine learning and deep learning.
  • Strong software engineering skills in Python.
  • Fluency with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow, including the ability to write custom layers, loss functions, and distributed training loops.
  • Experience debugging production machine-learning pipelines and diagnosing numerical or performance issues.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to translate complex theoretical concepts into implementations.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale GPU clusters, advanced parallelism strategies, and NCCL or MPI is preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale multimodal datasets and locality, encoding, format, and streaming tradeoffs is preferred.
  • Experience using Slurm, Kubernetes, or Ray to schedule and manage concurrent training jobs at scale is preferred.
  • Understanding of GPU memory hierarchies, warp execution, and training versus inference workloads is preferred.
