Base Salary
$141k - $242k/yr
Responsibilities
- Act as a domain expert in real-time vehicle localization and state estimation.
- Design, implement, and optimize multi-sensor fusion algorithms using IMU, LiDAR, Radar, Camera, GNSS, and wheel encoder data.
- Develop mathematical models for factor graph optimization, Kalman filters, and related state estimation systems.
- Write highly optimized, low-latency Rust code for real-time execution on vehicle compute devices.
- Collaborate with Perception and Mapping teams to integrate map data and semantic landmarks into localization.
- Build evaluation frameworks for localization accuracy, integrity, and fault tolerance across simulation and physical test environments.
Requirements
- BS, MS, or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of industry experience.
- Deep expertise in probabilistic robotics, state estimation, and 3D geometry, including Gaussian estimation, filtering, smoothing, and mapping.
- Experience building and optimizing online or offline SLAM systems and knowledge of point-cloud registration algorithms such as ICP.
- Hands-on experience processing and fusing physical sensor data, including IMU, LiDAR, Radar, and GNSS.
- Strong systems-level programming skills in modern C++ and/or Rust, including memory management, concurrency, and real-time computing.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis, prototyping, and tooling.
- Strong foundation in linear algebra, calculus, and probability theory.
- Track record of deploying complex state estimation algorithms on physical robots or autonomous vehicles.
- Familiarity with GTSAM, Ceres Solver, or g2o is preferred.
- Experience applying deep learning or AI/ML models to localization and feature matching is preferred.
- Experience with high-speed highway autonomous driving constraints is preferred.
