Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and APIs.
- Design Oracle schemas, optimize queries, and develop data-layer functionality.
- Build and extend Angular frontend features.
- Translate requirements into clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
- Shape technical designs covering service boundaries, data consistency, failure modes, and system reliability.
- Identify bottlenecks, debug issues, and drive performance improvements.
- Use and evaluate AI tools throughout code analysis, design, implementation, testing, review, debugging, and documentation.
- Share effective AI-assisted development practices and help colleagues adopt them.
- Lead and participate in code reviews, including reviews of AI-generated code.
- Collaborate with the Italian development team and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced developers.
- Write and maintain practical technical documentation.
Requirements
- Typically 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- Java 8+ backend development experience with JPA and either Spring Boot or JAX-RS, plus ORM experience such as Hibernate or equivalent.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills, including schema design; Oracle is preferred, while PostgreSQL or MySQL are accepted.
- Experience architecting multi-component systems and reasoning about service boundaries, data consistency, and failure modes.
- Proven hands-on use of AI tools as part of daily development, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and fast-paced delivery cycles.
- Professional-level written and verbal English.
- Preferred experience includes TypeScript, Angular 2+, HTML5, CSS/Sass, Oracle PL/SQL, AI agents, prompt and context engineering, MCP, AI-assisted development or testing, microservices, containerization, CI/CD, cloud platforms, JBoss WildFly, Keycloak, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2, JWT, ActiveMQ/AMQ, or Elasticsearch.
