Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks and end-to-end regression suites using TypeScript and Playwright.
- Validate backend APIs, integration layers, functional flows, and performance across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing layers.
- Test edge cases, error conditions, and expected user flows while improving automated testability practices across engineering and QA.
- Diagnose test automation failures and platform defects by analyzing distributed-system logs, API console data, and Datadog monitoring patterns.
- Create technical documentation, test strategies, automation runbooks, and detailed defect reports in the codebase and Confluence.
- Manage and optimize automated test data flows using PostgreSQL and other platform data stores, with AI-assisted tooling.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, QA Analysts, and DevOps in Agile sprints, including estimating validation effort and raising dependencies or blockers.
- Participate in peer code reviews for application features and test suites.
- Help define department-wide QA standards covering AI governance, coverage ownership, automated-versus-manual testing boundaries, and documentation.
- Coach QA Analysts and engineers on automation skills, test writing, and automation code quality.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional experience in software test automation, systems validation, or backend engineering in a high-growth SaaS environment.
- Strong programming experience with TypeScript or a comparable scripting language and practical experience with automated testing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code, including prompting, reusable skills or custom instructions, and verification of generated output.
- Deep knowledge of Fowler’s Testing Pyramid and hands-on experience writing API, functional end-to-end, and performance tests.
- Experience coaching or upskilling testers or engineers with limited automation experience.
- Ability to independently debug distributed backend microservices by parsing logs and using monitoring platforms such as Datadog.
- Familiarity with validating RabbitMQ message queues, Neo4j graph databases, or Redis distributed caching is preferred.
- Experience validating multi-tenant B2B SaaS applications and verifying data isolation, availability, and security compliance is preferred.
- Experience maintaining lightweight test-coverage reporting or dashboards is preferred.
