Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team and lead engineers through ambiguous technical problems.
- Design, develop, and launch highly available, low-latency backend systems for onboarding, authentication, and verification.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues.
- Create and monitor operational metrics, support availability, and participate in on-call and keep-the-lights-on efforts.
- Establish code review and design standards and communicate engineering practices through writing and tech talks.
- Provide feedback, guidance, and talent development for team members.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Experience using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Track record developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components using simple, extensible designs.
- Ability to make significant changes safely in large codebases using appropriate tools and practices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
