Base Salary
$347k - $445k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve infrastructure platforms used by many engineers and services.
- Design core abstractions, simple APIs, enforceable contracts, and safe defaults from real-world production constraints.
- Improve reliability and performance through measurement, principled design, and iterative hardening.
- Develop scalability primitives, reliability guardrails, observability systems, developer golden paths, and safe rollout mechanisms.
- Partner with engineering and product teams to identify systemic pain points and create reusable solutions.
- Own infrastructure outcomes end-to-end from design and implementation through rollout and operational maturity.
Requirements
- Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production with high throughput, concurrency, and failure handling.
- Strong systems-design fundamentals including caching, consistency, queueing and backpressure, and resilient dependency management.
- Ability to analyze latency distributions, tail behavior, and bottlenecks and turn findings into engineering work.
- Track record of building platforms or shared infrastructure that improves velocity and correctness for other teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for aligning on interfaces, navigating tradeoffs, and driving cross-team execution.
- Preferred experience designing paved roads or golden paths through frameworks, libraries, or self-service tooling.
- Preferred deep understanding of graceful degradation, circuit breakers, load shedding, rate limiting, and fault isolation.
- Preferred experience with progressive delivery, correctness checks, automated rollout gates, and production validation.
- Preferred strong API and contract design instincts and experience creating stable, evolvable, hard-to-misuse interfaces.
- Preferred evidence of force-multiplier impact enabling many teams through well-crafted primitives.
