Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and support data processing applications using Apache Spark and Java or Python.
- Build scalable ETL and data transformation pipelines for large datasets.
- Analyze requirements and collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, technology groups, and stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance, including Spark performance tuning.
- Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.
- Contribute to application modernization, migration, and automation initiatives.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and analysis while validating the resulting work.
- Identify vulnerabilities and security issues and conduct application testing and debugging.
- Serve as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of software development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark.
- Proficiency in Java or Python; Python-focused candidates should understand Java fundamentals including object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, and basic multithreading.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Understanding of distributed computing concepts and big data processing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and application performance optimization skills.
- Experience with Databricks, cloud platforms, modern data engineering practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Git is preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting or the financial services domain is a plus.
- Familiarity with data lake architectures and AI-assisted developer productivity tools such as GitHub Copilot, Devin, or Databricks Assistant is preferred.
- Ability to critically review, validate, and optimize AI-generated code and identify functional, performance, security, and maintainability issues.
