Responsibilities
- Translate automotive and industrial cybersecurity, quality, and safety standards into engineering requirements and perform capability gap analyses.
- Create requirements, traceability models, risk analyses, test strategies, and certification documentation.
- Align Canonical engineering practices with industrial compliance requirements.
- Design, implement, and execute verification and validation activities for qualifying Ubuntu and other components in regulated environments.
- Develop automation and tooling for traceability, testing, compliance evidence generation, and reporting.
- Engage industrial partners, support audits and technical reviews, and align external expectations with internal capabilities.
- Improve Canonical’s internal processes and standards capability as the team scales.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering foundation developing complex systems on Linux.
- Professional production experience with C, C++, and Python.
- Experience applying automotive, industrial, or other regulated-environment standards such as ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, IEC 61508, IEC 62443, SOTIF, or (A)SPICE.
- Experience with system or software architecture, implementation, or verification and validation of complex embedded systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to produce precise technical documentation.
- Ability to collaborate in a distributed team and engage with industrial partners.
- Open source contributions, particularly related to Software Defined Vehicles, are valuable.
- Knowledge of Debian packaging is valuable.
- Experience with Rust or safety-critical software development is valuable.
