Responsibilities
- Design and implement Python backend services and APIs that orchestrate mission- and campaign-level simulation runs and expose results to analysts and government stakeholders.
- Build scenario-generation, operational and mission-planning workflows and Monte Carlo sensitivity-analysis services.
- Develop distributed, cloud-scale infrastructure for simulations across developer workstations, on-premises infrastructure, and cloud compute while preserving reproducibility and model provenance.
- Build data ingestion, normalization, and analysis pipelines that turn simulation output into decision-ready insights.
- Develop REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs and Docker-based containerized services connecting Python tooling with simulation runtimes and analysis tools.
- Gather requirements from government stakeholders, domain experts, and analysts and translate them into software designs.
- Apply code review, testing, continuous integration, release management, and build-system practices.
- Provide department-wide architectural guidance, drive technical reviews and proposals, contribute to the technical roadmap, and mentor mid-level and senior staff.
Requirements
- Professional experience delivering enterprise-level Python software products to a large customer base.
- Experience gathering stakeholder requirements and translating them into software designs.
- Experience delivering robust software using code review, testing, continuous integration, release management, and build systems.
- Familiarity with machine learning tools and frameworks.
- Expertise building scalable REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application development.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
- Principal-level expectations include 10+ years of experience, department-wide technical and architectural influence, large-initiative scoping, and broad mentorship responsibility.
- Preferred qualifications include agentic AI frameworks, code or static analysis, AWS, GCP, Azure, an active U.S. security clearance, AFSIM development, distributed simulation environments, DoD mission-analysis programs, and defense-domain modeling.
