Base Salary

$103k - $213k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Assess current application hosting across data centers, virtual machines, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and container platforms.
  • Evaluate cloud readiness, dependencies, constraints, migration approaches, effort, and run-rate costs.
  • Define target hosting patterns and lead migration strategies for complex workloads.
  • Build, configure, and operate secure cloud environments in FedRAMP-authorized government cloud regions.
  • Develop reusable Infrastructure-as-Code modules and environment templates using Terraform or Bicep.
  • Apply Zero Trust and NIST SP 800-53 controls and produce architecture and security documentation for authorization.
  • Implement observability, cost monitoring, resource right-sizing, hybrid connectivity, backup, disaster recovery, and RTO/RPO strategies.
  • Lead target-state infrastructure architecture and landing-zone patterns for groups of applications.
  • Document architectures, configurations, and operational runbooks.
  • Review Infrastructure-as-Code and designs from Staff engineers and coach them on cloud engineering practices.
  • Engage client infrastructure, cloud, and security stakeholders to confirm constraints and align on target patterns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–6 years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or DevOps roles; internships and co-ops are considered.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure across compute, networking, storage, identity, and monitoring services.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Docker and working knowledge of Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and private connectivity.
  • Linux and Windows Server administration experience.
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret-level clearance.
  • Preferred qualifications include Azure Government or AWS GovCloud and FedRAMP High experience, Ansible, production Kubernetes with AKS, EKS, or OpenShift, FinOps practices, and relevant cloud or infrastructure certifications.
  • Must be comfortable working in person as needed in the Washington, DC area.
