Base Salary
$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable components for distributed database and cloud infrastructure systems.
- Build fault-tolerant services using redundancy, replication, failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Develop functional, performance, load, fault-injection, and brown-out testing for system correctness and reliability.
- Create dashboards, telemetry, alarms, alerting, runbooks, and operational procedures to monitor and recover services.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, participate in operational support rotations, and contribute to incident response and root-cause investigations.
- Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools for troubleshooting and cloud infrastructure management.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, and compliance practices in multi-tenant environments.
- Track project timelines, collaborate across teams, mentor engineers, and improve engineering and operational practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale, highly available distributed systems and/or cloud services.
- Strong knowledge of Java and scripting languages such as Python and Perl.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems, and cloud services fundamentals.
- Working familiarity with TCP/IP, HTTP, and standard network architectures.
- Strong understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies, especially in cloud environments.
- Ability to design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software for databases, applications, tools, and networks.
- Terraform and/or Ansible experience is preferred.
