Responsibilities
- Design and implement compiler instrumentation for hardware-assisted code randomization and encryption in memory.
- Leverage existing architecture and instructions in in-house hardware to prototype security solutions.
- Potentially augment hardware emulators such as QEMU to test compiler instrumentation using standard benchmark tests.
- Plan and conduct the research under the guidance of Helsinki System Security Laboratory security experts.
Requirements
- Be a student who has completed most M.Sc. courses in computer science or engineering, or be a recent M.Sc. graduate or PhD student.
- Have compiler familiarity through coursework or prior exposure to LLVM or GCC modifications.
- Have sufficient English communication skills and good teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of low-level system or operating-system architecture and hardware emulators is advantageous.
- Coursework or background in compiler technology, hardware architecture, platform security, or cryptography is advantageous.
- Have an interest in research and exploring new challenges.
