
Senior Platform Engineer, AI

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain AI platform infrastructure, including API integrations, model access pipelines, system connectors, MCP and tool-use capabilities, and on-premises compute environments.
- Develop AI-powered applications, workflows, and integrations connecting frontier models to internal project management, documentation, communications, and operational systems.
- Evaluate AI providers, tools, and platforms and contribute to build-versus-buy decisions based on capability, compliance, and speed to value.
- Design and deliver AI training and enablement through workshops, office hours, documentation, and shared resources.
- Partner with engineering, security, and IT teams to ensure AI deployments satisfy government security and compliance requirements across data classification levels.
- Monitor the evolving AI landscape and identify models, tools, and capabilities that could accelerate the company.
Requirements
- Typically 5+ years of software engineering, DevOps, or cloud engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
- Experience building production systems and coding in Python, TypeScript, Java, or similar languages used in AI and ML tooling.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools to deliver production code and automate routine tasks.
- Experience with large language model APIs, prompt engineering, tool use, retrieval-augmented generation, or agent frameworks such as CrewAI and Pydantic AI.
- Experience integrating software systems through APIs, webhooks, data pipelines, or authentication flows.
- Ability to work across infrastructure, application development, and platform engineering.
- Ability to explain technical AI concepts to nontechnical audiences through training, documentation, or direct support.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience deploying AI or ML systems in government, defense, or regulated environments.
- Preferred experience operating production workloads in AWS, Azure, or GCP and familiarity with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, and IL4/IL5.
- Preferred background in developer tooling, platform engineering, or internal tools teams.
- Preferred experience building knowledge retrieval systems, embedding pipelines, or enterprise search infrastructure.
- Preferred experience contributing to technical roadmaps and architectural decisions affecting multiple teams or products.
- An active U.S. Secret or Top-Secret security clearance is preferred.
