Base Salary
$204k - $348k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, secure, and well-documented user interfaces and APIs for AI-driven applications.
- Develop database schemas and manage SQL, NoSQL, vector, and other data systems for performance and scalability.
- Implement front-end and backend services with a focus on performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Diagnose bottlenecks and optimize high-availability, low-latency systems for large-scale workloads.
- Use AWS services and Kubernetes to build and deploy production-grade systems at scale.
- Integrate data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure into scientific workflows in collaboration with ML researchers, engineers, and scientists.
- Build agents, interfaces, and platform integrations that enable researchers to collaborate with AI.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8–15 years of engineering experience building and deploying large-scale production systems.
- Strong expertise in either front-end or backend engineering, with full-stack web application development experience.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, monorepos such as Nx, Tailwind, FastAPI, SQL or NoSQL systems, Python, and Pydantic.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants is required.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration with scientists, data engineers, and product teams.
- Ability to own complex backend challenges and balance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Preferred experience includes AI agents, graph-based workflows, MCP, RAG pipelines, or LLM orchestration frameworks.
- Preferred experience includes AWS, Kubernetes, containerization, Terraform, CloudFormation, and GitHub Actions.
- Preferred experience includes SQLModel, FastAPI, Django, Airflow, Prefect, Temporal, Dagster, pandas, NumPy, SciPy, JAX, and PyTorch.
- Laboratory software, life sciences, material sciences, laboratory devices, robotics, or hardware-driver experience is a bonus.
