Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate core backend services supporting mint/burn flows, reserve accounting, reconciliation, and settlement pipelines.
- Integrate with banks, custody providers, stablecoin issuers, blockchains, and partner APIs for reliable money movement.
- Build durable reconciliation systems and audit trails that track financial state and discrepancies.
- Design secure API surfaces and own monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and incident response.
- Contribute to payments APIs, internal/admin surfaces, and customer or operations workflows.
- Identify and implement improvements that make core infrastructure more robust.
Requirements
- 5–12 years of production backend engineering experience designing, shipping, and operating services in production.
- Experience with high-value transactional systems such as payments, banking integrations, fintech infrastructure, trading or exchange infrastructure, ledgering, or stablecoin/crypto infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of distributed systems concepts including consistency, eventing, idempotency, retries, reconciliation, ordering, partial failure, and observability.
- Experience integrating with unreliable external systems and partner APIs.
- Experience designing secure APIs, handling secrets and access control, instrumenting services, and writing infrastructure runbooks.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business and compliance requirements into technical systems and explain tradeoffs to stakeholders.
- Experience with TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and GCP.
- Ability and willingness to work in person in New York City five days per week.
- Preferred qualifications include stablecoin or crypto infrastructure experience, payments or fintech experience, compliance-adjacent engineering, admin dashboard or API documentation experience, and experience with Temporal, TigerBeetle, Rust, or Python.
