Responsibilities
- Define and maintain embedded software architecture for autonomous mobile robots and related robotic platforms.
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain real-time embedded software for motion control, navigation, sensor fusion, power management, communications, diagnostics, and safety systems.
- Lead technical design reviews, establish engineering and testing standards, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions across robotics and platform initiatives.
- Integrate lidar, cameras, IMUs, OTA updates, safety sensors, motor controllers, battery management systems, and wireless communication systems.
- Develop drivers and interfaces for embedded peripherals and custom hardware, participate in board bring-up, and resolve hardware/software integration issues.
- Implement fault tolerance, graceful degradation, monitoring, diagnostics, recovery mechanisms, and safety-related functionality.
- Define embedded testing strategies and support automated testing, hardware-in-the-loop validation, simulation, and release certification.
- Support fleet-scale deployment and operational reliability of mobile robotic systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of embedded software development experience.
- At least 3 years of technical leadership or lead engineering experience.
- Experience developing software for mobile robotic systems and debugging hardware/software interactions.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++.
- Experience with embedded Linux, real-time systems, concurrency, software architecture, system design, and an RTOS.
- Preferred experience with autonomous mobile robots, warehouse or industrial automation, logistics, autonomous vehicles, navigation, localization, sensor fusion, safety-critical systems, deployed robotic fleets, Agile environments, Zephyr RTOS, and OpenWRT.
