Base Salary

$158k - $241k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of computer vision and machine learning algorithms for object detection, classification, localization, and tracking.
  • Implement ML algorithms and validate designs through purpose-designed experiments.
  • Analyze trained-model errors and develop strategies to improve algorithm performance.
  • Select datasets and data representations and supervise data acquisition when needed.
  • Advise on software infrastructure and DevOps processes supporting machine learning.
  • Define requirements, develop concepts and prototypes, complete detailed designs, and perform testing, evaluation, validation, and verification.
  • Select hardware for specific ML applications and manage hardware, data, personnel, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate activities across teams and mentor more junior engineers.
  • Monitor relevant academic literature, commercial products, and open-source projects.
  • Support defense and commercial applications across stationary and mobile sensor platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related science or engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant machine learning and/or computer vision experience; the posting also states a minimum of 10–12 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ or Python.
  • Proficiency with PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, OpenCV, and Linux.
  • Familiarity with ML standards such as ONNX.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Expertise visualizing and manipulating large datasets and selecting hardware for ML applications.
  • Experience with Department of War and Intelligence Community organizations on advanced technology, research, or AI/ML initiatives is desired.
  • Familiarity with classified environments and office productivity tools is desired.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, along with an active Secret-level DoD security clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally, up to 20%.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, teamwork, and initiative skills.
