Base Salary
$150k - $219k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own availability architecture across compute, network, storage, data, and application tiers to exceed 99.9% service availability.
- Design fault domains, placement strategies, graceful degradation, capacity headroom, and failure-handling approaches.
- Eliminate single points of failure across infrastructure, networking, identity, secrets, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Define SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, performance budgets, and capacity plans that inform deployments, scaling, and incident response.
- Drive infrastructure as code, GitOps, canary, blue/green, rolling deployment, and automated rollback capabilities.
- Build platform and CI/CD capabilities that improve deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, and mean time to recover.
- Embed security by design through zero trust networking, mTLS, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
- Establish observability for metrics, logs, traces, and health signals and enable operational readiness through runbooks, failure testing, and automated remediation.
- Serve as the technical authority for platform architecture decisions and partner with engineering teams on service onboarding and platform standards.
- Provide reference architectures, design patterns, and guidance that improve developer experience and delivery speed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of related experience as a platform, solutions, or system design architect, software engineer, senior DevOps engineer, or in a similar capacity.
- Proven experience designing distributed systems with emphasis on availability, scalability, resilience, and performance.
- Demonstrated expertise in microservices architecture, API design, and service-to-service communication patterns.
- Strong knowledge of fault tolerance, capacity planning, dependency isolation, and failure handling.
- Experience leading or contributing to architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and cross-team initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and explain complex system designs.

- US base pay is $149,578-$219,381 per year; Canadian pay is $120,500-$170,500 per year, with eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive plan.
