Responsibilities

  • Build, patch, customize, optimize, and test userspace packages for CIQ’s Rocky Linux products.
  • Remediate CVEs in RPM packages shipped to customers.
  • Improve package-building tooling and automation.
  • Develop automated tests for specific software and complete systems.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, planning, implementation, proofs of concept, and minimum viable products.
  • Document projects to support knowledge sharing and user integration.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, open-source community, and sales teams.
  • Support services before launch through system design consulting, platform and framework development, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
  • Deploy solutions on standard server architectures, virtual machines, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Use GitHub or GitLab for development and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Linux Engineer, Linux Development Engineer, or software developer focused on the Linux operating system.
  • At least 4 years of experience supporting Linux.
  • At least 2 years of experience building Linux packages.
  • Understanding of Linux OS packaging with RPM or DEB.
  • Familiarity with CVE remediation for older code versions.
  • Deep understanding of Linux operating-system internals and package interactions.
  • Experience with Linux administration, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools and processes.
  • Familiarity with Ansible playbooks and/or DoD STIG, SCAP, or RADIX processes.
  • Proficiency with Bash, YAML, XML, JSON, REST APIs, OpenAPI, and HTTP GET/POST.
  • Familiarity with Python, Go, Kubernetes, and other engineering tools and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
  • Problem-solving, debugging, communication, and adaptability skills.
