Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain defensive security systems, security integrations, infrastructure guardrails, and other security controls.
- Perform threat analysis and modeling, evaluate attack surfaces, and develop defensive mitigations.
- Review code, system features, and integration architectures for security risks.
- Track vulnerability findings from scans, penetration tests, and bug reports through risk prioritization and remediation.
- Administer, configure, and maintain SIEM/SOAR platforms for threat detection and incident response.
- Write, tune, and optimize detection rules and alerts while minimizing false positives.
- Investigate security alerts, perform forensic analysis, and manage escalation and communication during incidents.
- Document security reviews, threat models, incident investigations, remediation work, and audit evidence.
- Maintain operational readiness regarding emerging threats, attack techniques, and security engineering practices.
- Collaborate autonomously with engineering, infrastructure, and product teams, including support outside normal business hours when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 5–7+ years of hands-on experience building defensive security systems, implementing security controls, or operating in security response environments.
- Strong knowledge of attack techniques, threat analysis, incident response, vulnerability remediation, and network, host, application, and cloud security.
- Working knowledge of SIEM/SOAR platforms and detection-rule languages such as SPL or KQL.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, independent execution, and experience collaborating with international teams across time zones.
- Willingness to work outside normal business hours when required for incident response.
- Preferred: familiarity with STRIDE and MITRE ATT&CK, automated security controls, infrastructure security tooling, and SIEM platforms such as Sumo Logic, Splunk, Azure Sentinel, or Datadog.
- Preferred: cloud security monitoring with AWS, Azure, or GCP; container security with Docker or Kubernetes; familiarity with ISO 27001/2, NIST, SOC2, GDPR, or DORA; and experience with an object-oriented programming language, preferably Python.
