Responsibilities
- Deliver Android applications against the sprint backlog, often providing end-to-end leadership for features or projects.
- Coordinate solution design during discovery in line with the architectural vision and development strategy.
- Own and maintain software architecture components using SOLID principles, Clean Architecture, modularisation, and MVVM.
- Mentor new starters and less senior team members and foster collaboration across teams.
- Lead or actively contribute to Scrum ceremonies, design workshops, retrospectives, knowledge-sharing, and stakeholder demonstrations.
- Perform appropriate testing before delivery and drive unit-test coverage, test doubles, and TDD adoption.
- Collaborate with product owners to manage expectations, dependencies, technical constraints, priorities, and delivery timescales.
- Define and track engineering and quality KPIs with the Lead Engineer.
- Consider security, financial, commercial, and business requirements when discovering and sizing work.
- Create documentation and contribute to the mobile design system with the Design team.
Requirements
- Expertise in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Hands-on experience delivering Android applications.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, software architecture, Clean Architecture, modularisation, and MVVM.
- Ability to lead feature or project delivery, coordinate solution design, and communicate technical constraints and dependencies.
- Experience with testing, unit-test coverage, test doubles, and quality practices.
- Advanced Git knowledge and understanding of CI processes and tools.
- Ability to use external tools for root-cause analysis of issues.
- Experience defining or tracking engineering and quality KPIs is required.
- Kotlin Multiplatform experience is desirable.
- Ability to mentor colleagues, lead discussions, collaborate across teams, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
