Responsibilities
- Support mission-critical PostgreSQL and AWS database services.
- Automate repeatable DBA work using infrastructure-as-code, Terraform, and deployment pipelines.
- Improve backup, restore, monitoring, replication, reliability, and operability practices.
- Partner with Cloud Infrastructure colleagues on AWS, Terraform, and platform patterns.
- Enable engineers to self-serve database capabilities with appropriate guardrails.
- Contribute to the migration from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
- Participate in a shared production on-call rota and reduce avoidable alerting and toil.
Requirements
- Practical AWS experience supporting mission-critical database services.
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge and experience with backup and restore.
- Experience with Terraform, CI/CD, and automation.
- Experience participating in on-call support for production services.
- A database-engineering mindset combined with practical platform automation skills.
- Ability to reason about reliability, resilience, security, and operability.
- Collaborative working style and confidence partnering with platform engineers.
Benefits

- Hybrid working requires two to three days per week in the London office.
- Option to work from abroad for up to 120 days per year, subject to having the right to work in the chosen country.
