Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain embedded C++ software for real-time communication and signal-processing systems.
- Develop and support software for embedded communication modules, modems, and RF-adjacent components.
- Debug, optimise, and performance-test software across embedded targets.
- Produce traceable design specifications, requirements, and documentation for regulated development.
- Follow secure coding standards, governance policies, and safety-critical development procedures.
- Support system integration, architecture reviews, verification, and system-level testing.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in embedded software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in embedded C++, including C++11, C++14, and C++17.
- Experience developing embedded software for communications or signalling systems such as modems, radios, or data links.
- Familiarity with embedded debugging, performance optimisation, and hardware-software interaction.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, configuration management, development governance, requirements traceability, verification, and system-level testing.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience from a relevant technical military background.
- Eligibility to hold or already holding UK SC Security Clearance.
- Desirable experience includes Linux kernel drivers, communication stacks, DSP concepts, RF-adjacent technologies, embedded Linux, RTOS environments, model-based design, static analysis tools, and defence, avionics, or secure-systems engineering experience.
