
Sr. Software Engineer, Patient Platform (Backend)

Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable, performant backend solutions that meet product requirements.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, coaching, and code reviews for engineers.
- Advocate for the team’s technical needs and priorities across the engineering organization.
- Participate in product discovery, feasibility assessment, user-needs exploration, feature definition, and prototype or experiment validation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate systems and services effectively.
- Shape the technical vision and identify investments that improve security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Break complex projects into actionable tasks and drive successful delivery.
- Implement logging, monitoring, alerting, and other observability practices across the platform.
- Improve engineering workflows, processes, tools, and standards.
- Analyze performance metrics and user feedback to identify optimization opportunities.
- Document architecture and development processes and contribute to knowledge sharing.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and propose reliability and performance enhancements.
- Track industry trends and recommend innovative technical solutions.
- Assist with interviewing and onboarding new engineers.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer shipping production code.
- At least 3 years of experience designing, developing, and delivering backend distributed systems.
- At least 3 years of experience with microservice architectures.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience building scalable web applications and services, preferably in a cloud environment.
- Proficiency delivering and hosting frontends and microservices on Kubernetes and AWS.
- Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment processes, integrated unit tests, and end-to-end integration tests.
- Experience with relational databases; PostgreSQL is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, prioritization, and independent execution skills.
- Preferred experience in healthcare technology, wearables, or connected-device data.
- Preferred familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks, React, React Native, and NextJS.
- Preferred experience building developer frameworks or tools and optimizing web performance.
