Responsibilities
- Design and implement core runtime services for secure, isolated agent execution.
- Build deterministic policy enforcement pathways for data, context, tools, and model access.
- Define service interfaces and contracts across maincar, sidecar, and partner components.
- Build backend services and runtime components for cell lifecycle and execution control.
- Improve performance, scalability, resilience, and reliability for high-concurrency workloads.
- Develop telemetry, logging, auditability, and observability capabilities.
- Participate in architecture and code reviews, incident response, operational hardening, and production support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and platform teams on roadmap delivery.
- Mentor engineers and help improve engineering quality across the team.
Requirements
- Software Engineer candidates require 5+ years of software development engineering experience designing, developing, and deploying software solutions.
- Senior Software Engineer candidates require 8+ years of software engineering experience architecting, building, and scaling robust and efficient software systems.
- Senior Software Engineer candidates require 6+ years of experience building backend or platform systems.
- Strong experience with distributed systems, APIs, and service-oriented architecture.
- Experience building secure systems with least-privilege patterns and policy controls.
- Proficiency in at least one systems or backend language such as Java, Go, Rust, or Python.
- Experience operating production services with strong reliability and observability practices.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex technical projects from design through production.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional environments.
Benefits
- Annualized base salary ranges are $156,000-$234,000 for the primary Boulder, Colorado location and $148,200-$264,000 for additional U.S. locations.
- The role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus and annual refresh stock grants.
- Flexible work requires spending at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, or partners, depending on the role.
