Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, robust, maintainable systems and services focused on reliability and performance.
- Develop complex application logic, APIs, and data models aligned with business goals.
- Deliver full-stack solutions with cross-functional teams across multiple platforms.
- Lead system architecture, code reviews, engineering standards, and technical efforts.
- Deploy and operate high-performance backend services and distributed systems in cloud environments.
- Safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions into production systems.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues while improving system health and operational excellence.
- Participate in on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in data structures and algorithms using Java or Kotlin, with familiarity across the JVM stack, system design, and distributed systems.
- Experience building and operating high-performance, highly available backend services in public or hybrid cloud environments, with Kotlin strongly preferred.
- Experience leading engineering efforts for services operating at scale in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and services.
- Strong proficiency in system design, API design, and data modelling.
- Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools beyond simple code autocompletion in daily workflows.
- Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and CI/CD tools or processes is preferred.
- Expertise architecting end-to-end solutions integrating multiple systems or domains is preferred.
- Strong operational excellence focus, including monitoring, automation, and incident response, is preferred.
- Data-driven problem solving and technical decision-making, including use of AI/ML insights, is preferred.
- Deep knowledge of safely integrating AI/ML features into production systems and optimizing their impact at scale is preferred.
