Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, robust, and maintainable systems and services across multiple domains.
- Develop complex application logic, APIs, and data models aligned with business goals and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality full-stack solutions across platforms.
- Lead technical efforts in system architecture, code reviews, and engineering standards.
- Integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions responsibly to improve outcomes.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve production issues while improving system health and operational excellence.
- Respond to emergencies and incidents during on-call periods and participate in rotations that include nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in data structures and algorithms using Java or Kotlin, familiarity with the JVM stack, system design, and distributed systems.
- Experience building and operating high-performance, highly available backend services in public or hybrid cloud environments, with Kotlin strongly preferred.
- Experience leading engineering efforts for services operating at scale in a cloud environment, preferably AWS, including deployment and operations using platform tooling or infrastructure as code.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and services.
- Strong proficiency in system design, API design, and data modelling.
- Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools beyond simple code autocompletion in daily workflows.
- Preferred experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and CI/CD tools or processes.
- Preferred expertise architecting end-to-end solutions integrating multiple systems or domains.
- Preferred focus on operational excellence, including monitoring, automation, and incident response.
- Preferred experience safely integrating AI/ML features into production systems and optimizing their impact at scale.
