Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines and batch or serverless processing jobs for diverse internal and external data sources.
- Build and operate event-driven integrations using messaging, queueing, and containerized workloads.
- Develop change-data-capture pipelines that replicate operational database changes into the data platform near real time.
- Manage scalable and reliable data platform infrastructure, including cloud data warehouses, databases, and orchestration tools.
- Work with the BI team to deliver performant data models and reliable datasets.
- Develop APIs and web services exposing validated datasets to downstream systems and regulatory reporting portals.
- Build data validation and transformation layers supporting compliance and audit requirements.
- Monitor pipeline performance and data quality, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with Engineering, BI, Product, and Operations.
- Prepare datasets for ML and AI workloads and explore automation approaches including LLM-based data discovery and metadata generation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least 3 years of combined software development and data engineering experience, including at least 2 years focused on building data platforms.
- Proficiency in Linux, Python, Bash scripting, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with backend services, APIs, event-driven architectures, Lambda, SNS, SQS, and messaging patterns.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure fundamentals including VPCs, security groups, IAM, DNS, and infrastructure as code with Terraform.
- Proficiency with Docker and ECS or similar container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with large-scale data processing, data warehousing, and backend systems for analytics and reporting.
- Ability to design system architectures, explain trade-offs, and translate requirements into solutions.
- Familiarity with AWS services including S3, Lambda, RDS, Glue, and Redshift.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and collaborative working style.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial systems is preferred.
- Java or another compiled language is preferred.
