Base Salary
$209k - $286k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Design and implement large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple teams and shape system architecture and long-term technology direction.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and product leaders on cloud-based solutions, platform roadmaps, and shared-services strategy.
- Mentor engineers, support professional development, and participate in internal and external technology communities.
- Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, 9+ years coding in multiple listed languages, open-source framework experience, API and database experience, cloud experience, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code experience, Git-based version control, cloud troubleshooting, mentoring, observability, architecture reviews, coding standards, reliability practices, AI coding tools, and large-scale technical leadership.

- Full-time annual salary ranges vary by location: $209,000–$238,500 in Richmond, $229,900–$262,400 in McLean, and $250,800–$286,200 in New York; the role may also receive performance-based incentive compensation.
