Base Salary
$130k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize the production runtime pipeline for ML-based autonomous vehicle planning.
- Integrate and deploy machine learning models in a scalable, safety-critical planning software stack.
- Develop and optimize high-performance C++ components for feature extraction, inference, post-processing, trajectory generation, and runtime orchestration.
- Optimize latency, throughput, memory usage, and multithreaded performance on compute-constrained embedded platforms.
- Design runtime validation, safety guardrails, and fallback mechanisms for feasible and regulation-compliant trajectories.
- Investigate complex runtime failures using logs, profiling, visualization, offline replay, and quantitative analysis.
- Build tooling and infrastructure for debugging, observability, performance analysis, testing, and runtime monitoring.
- Collaborate with machine learning and systems engineering teams to deploy models while maintaining reliability and performance.
- Drive improvements in runtime architecture, scalability, reliability, and maintainability while complying with quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience developing high-performance production software.
- Strong C++ programming skills and experience maintaining large-scale software systems.
- Experience optimizing real-time systems for latency, throughput, memory usage, and multithreaded performance.
- Experience deploying machine learning inference into production environments.
- Familiarity with TensorRT, CUDA, ONNX Runtime, or similar inference acceleration frameworks.
- Strong software architecture, testing, code quality, debugging, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Experience tracing failures across multi-stage pipelines and implementing reliable long-term solutions.
- Experience designing validation strategies, automated testing, runtime monitoring, and observability for production systems.
- Preferred qualifications include autonomous driving, planning, prediction, robotics software, CPU/GPU profiling, embedded GPU platforms, PyTorch, distributed systems, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure experience.
- Bonus qualifications include modern C++ expertise, low-latency inference optimization, internal debugging or visualization tools, complex production issue resolution, systems thinking, and technical leadership or mentoring experience.
