Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded software for new and existing sensor projects.
- Debug and troubleshoot PCBAs with Electrical Engineering using logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering on PC applications that control sensors.
- Create and champion reusable hardware and software architectures and document firmware architectures and communications interfaces.
- Design, implement, and maintain unit and stress tests for embedded software validation.
- Serve as the embedded software subject matter expert for production sensors and resolve field issues.
- Mentor less experienced embedded software engineers and interns.
- Coordinate firmware timing and data across cameras, LEDs, and Digital Mirror Devices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
- At least 2 years of experience developing applications on custom electronic hardware.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming on embedded systems.
- Strong electrical background, including the ability to read schematics and component datasheets and use oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout product development.
- Preferred experience with Embedded Linux, Yocto, Bitbake, driver development, patches, Bitbake layers and recipes, and U-Boot.
- Preferred experience developing real-time firmware for microprocessors using SPI, I2C, UART, and SDIO.
- Preferred experience with Bluetooth Classic, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, USB, Ethernet, image processing, digital signal processing, Bash, Python, and Git.
