Responsibilities
- Own the technical vision and long-term evolution of API Gateway and traffic platforms supporting north-south and east-west traffic at multi-cloud scale.
- Architect and build a unified traffic abstraction layer across Akamai, Fastly, and Cloudflare with centralized policy control, metadata tracking, routing, and automated failover.
- Set architectural standards for ingress, traffic routing, API management, scalability, security, and reliability across multiple teams.
- Lead cross-team initiatives spanning networking, platform, SRE, security, and observability to deliver resilient cloud-agnostic ingress solutions.
- Design and govern CI/CD and GitOps workflows, including progressive rollouts, automated validation, and rollback strategies.
- Advance infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes through reusable modules, golden paths, and operational guardrails.
- Build foundational platform tooling and services primarily in Go or Python.
- Define observability standards for traffic systems, including metrics, logs, tracing, SLOs, and automated remediation.
- Mentor senior engineers, review high-impact designs, unblock teams, and raise platform engineering and distributed systems standards.
- Identify scaling limits, security gaps, and reliability risks and drive strategic improvements before production issues occur.
Requirements
- Expert-level Go or Python programming experience delivering production-grade platforms, internal tooling, and services at scale.
- Deep hands-on experience with API Gateway platforms, including architecture, rollout strategies, failure handling, and long-term traffic management evolution.
- Strong knowledge of CDN architectures and integrations such as Akamai, Fastly, and Cloudflare, including caching, request routing, edge security, and failover.
- Advanced proficiency with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm for infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration, reusable modules, platform standards, and self-service.
- Deep understanding of networking and distributed systems, including TLS termination, L4/L7 routing, traffic shaping, rate limiting, retries, circuit breaking, and failure isolation.
- Experience designing systems with observability, automation, and resiliency as first-class concerns, including metrics, logs, traces, SLIs, SLOs, and automated remediation.
- Strong architectural judgment, systems thinking, and ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and improve engineering standards and delivery reliability.
- B-Tech or M-Tech in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from a reputed university.
- At least 9 years of experience in Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles focused on production traffic, automation, and API delivery.
